Local runners from our community are running in the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati on Sunday, May 6th. They are running to raise funds for the Steven A. Hunter Hope Fund.
Steven is a Christian young man who worshipped at Christ’s Community Church. He had a strong conviction to help those in need, rooted in his strong Christian faith. The Lord called him home on January 18, 2006. Steven was a 2003 graduate of Portsmouth High School, and was a very active student and proud to be a Trojan.
The original goal of the Steven A. Hunter Hope Fund is to raise funds for the benefit of the students in the Portsmouth City School System who have financial needs. The fund provides items such as clothes, shoes, coats, school supplies, personal hygiene items, lab and field trip/excursion fees & activity fees, tutoring, dental exams & cleanings, visual exams and assistance, and college exam & testing fees. Scholarship assistance is also provided for a graduating senior who will be attending Milligan College in eastern Tennessee or Shawnee State University.
Since its inception, the Steven A Hunter Hope Fund has broadened our reach to some additional area schools. The Steven A Hunter Hope Fund also provides funding for Steven’s Power Pack Program a weekend backpack in the Portsmouth City Schools and New Boston Local Schools and next, Northwest Local Schools. This backpack program provides food for the weekend for elementary aged school children in need. The Steven A Hunter Hope Fund also brings the mobile food pantry to our community in support of these programs.
Will you please support the Steven A. Hunter Hope Fund with a “per mile” pledge? Please complete and return the form below with your donation; or for more information, contact one of these runners:
